Wedding Dressing

Wedding Dressing

Welcome to the wedding guide! This is something I originally planned to start back in 2020 but then when everything happened it didn’t feel like the right time. After the whirlwind that was last year, I decided that it might help to get this started now because 2022 is already looking very busy!

Every week I’ll post a top tip or a supplier shout out to help you plan the perfect day.

This week I’ve been chatting to Justine from happy ever after fittings. She offers a fabulous service to help you and your dress look your best on the big day.

Bridal dressing is a relatively new service, but it’s become increasingly popular, especially in the last year. As someone who has helped dress plenty of brides (it’s one of those things that you do a lot as a wedding photographer!) I know how difficult it can be to work out how to get the dress on without ruining makeup, work out how to lace up the back of a corset style dress, or do up all of those tiny buttons; so having a pro is a great plan!

Steaming dresses is a big part of getting dresses looking their best, removing the creases (especially if they have been in a dress bag) and getting the shape just right. This has become a top priority recently, as a lot of dresses have been in spare rooms and wardrobes for months, awaiting their special day.

My top tip for your dress is no matter what, make sure you have a hanger that will support your dress. Wooden is usually best as they tend to be stronger. Follow any advice you get from the dress shop; they know the dress better than anyone and will be able to give you specific advice for your style of dress and fabric. Be especially careful with corset style dresses as these usually need to be supported otherwise the boning can become misshapen.

If you are still looking for a bridal dresser for the big day or just want some more information about the service she offers, take a look at happy ever after fittings
